All the islands are divided into six main island groups and many people that are on Greek island hopping holidays will stay within one of those groups, because it is easier. However, island hopping between the island groups is also quite possible.

Here are the most important islands to visit during Greek island hopping holidays:

Mykonos

The Cycladic village in the center of Mykonos is a big draw and many people enjoy walking along the winding streets as they look at the buildings and windmills. This island also has the beaches where the famous people like to be seen, so it is possible for a person to casually run into their favorite star. The nightlife on Mykonos is unforgettable and everyone will find themselves dancing and drinking till the early morning hours.

Santorini

A honeymooner’s paradise can be found on Santorini, where people can sit in a private pool at the edge of a cliff while the sun is setting in the sky. Couples can walk the streets while holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes every time they stop. Wine tasting is a must on Santorini and they produce numerous wines that are affordable. The views from this island are quite spectacular too.

Crete

Crete is the largest of all the Greek islands and it has its own customs, accent, climate, and delicious cuisine. No one can have amazing Greek island hopping holidays without a stop at the Elafonissi beach, which is full of pink sand. This island is so expansive and there is so much to do that a person could inadvertently spend their entire Greek island hopping holidays in this one place. Therefore, people will want to plan accordingly, so that they can see much more than this beautiful area of the country.

Hydra

Hydra might be a tiny island, but people on Greek island hopping holidays will want to venture there to enjoy the tranquility and silence. There are no cars allowed on this island, so there is hardly any noise or air pollution. However, it does have numerous stone captains’ homes as well as unique boutiques and restaurants that everyone enjoys.

Kefalonia

In the center of Kefalonia is Mount Aenos and this is where wild horses run free. Two other must-see attractions on this island is the Dragonata, a vast cave, and Melissani, an underwater lake.
